Misfits is a quite recent programme on E4 first released 12 November to 17 December 2009. This first series was only six episodes long with a great rewsponse, from here they have made a second series which first aired on the 11 November 2010 and has still gained a great audience.
It is about a group of young offeners who are currently in a community service programme. They obtain supernatural powers after an electrical storm!
For those who have not watched this, I would advise to give it a go. I was personally reluctant to watch it as I didnt want to follow the crowd, but after being persuaded by my housemates I loved the show and am currently loving catching up on 4od. Where you can go all the way back and watch the 1st series.
The show is seen as a mix of ‘Skins’ and Superhero programmes such as ‘Heroes’. But i think it goes much further than this. The character Nathan Young played by Robert Michael Sheehan has a huge impact on the narrative and brings much humour to the usually quite serious genre. Without this character I think Misfits would lose much of its appeal.
